Description
Tablet weaving has been used for making belting and trim since the Viking period and still very popular today. Using tablet cards you can create unique patterns, many are available online.
This loom comes in two variations single roller and double roller. The single roller has a large roller on one side and a simple clamp on the other side. The distance between the roller and the front support is 17 inches and is 24 inches long overall. The double roller has rollers on each side that are identical. The distance between the rollers is 15 inches. These looms are designed to stand upright when not in use. The roller has a series of holes on the outside handle allowing for minor adjustment as the pattern gets tighter or needs to be advanced. I have used this loom with 10 yards of 8/2 cotton warp and 22 tablets. There is enough room left to add several more tablets if you wish. In this configuration you need to choose a pattern that can be twist neutral. Some patterns you will spin all the tablets one direction and when the twist gets to tight you can simply start spinning them backwards to untwist the warp thread. I will send the looms out set up for a right handed person. If you need to reverse the orientation of the roller so that it anchors on the left hand side all you need to do is release the 2 screws holding it in and switch the roller around. This also comes in handy if you need another roller for any reason. I will be releasing a higher capacity roller for it soon.
Many wood choices are available and all looms are made to order. We use a tung oil based finish on these that offers good resilience and beauty.
